One of the things I love most about photography is that it calls me to see the world with a child’s eye, with a sense of wonder and curiosity. When I go out on an adventure with my camera I have the intention of leaving all notions behind, forgetting what I know and simply seeing what I see as if for the first time. Looking through the viewfinder with a child’s eye gives me the opportunity to experience a weathered fence as texture, a ripe pear as shape and a purple iris as color.
Many of my photographs also reflect my curiosity about the natural process of change. My eye is often drawn to subject matter that reveals impermanence and imperfection--the idea that everything on earth is in constant flux. And whether it’s an abandoned house in the country or a withering rose on my kitchen windowsill, I’m always amazed by the inherent elegance and beauty that I find in something that may not be seen upon first glance.
Please view my growing collection of images for matting on the Photo Gallery page. All matted photos are printed on matte paper, unless glossy is requested, and include acid-free white or cream mats. Images can also be transferred to tile, watercolor paper, mirror, fabric and other materials by request.
